The main factor that influences the customer's decision to buy PVC or aluminum windows is the price. Prices vary considerably, from 70% to 200%, depending on the profiles being compared. Aluminum windows are almost always more expensive than PVC windows. The cost of windows includes the cost of repairs, the frequency of which depends on the durability of the windows.
To help you decide on your project, you can get two samples of window corners from us: aluminum windows and PVC windows. This way you can see the difference for yourself. This will speed up the decision-making process.
The durability of a window is closely related to its price. Why? A shorter window life means more repairs and subsequent installations. Polyvinyl chloride is estimated to last about 15-20 years, while aluminum windows can maintain their performance for up to 50 years due to their greater resistance to corrosion and sunlight.
Even standard coatings are highly resistant to corrosion (and also to sea salt) and there are coatings available that are even more corrosion resistant.
PVC as a material loses its properties when exposed to weather conditions for long periods of time. If the PVC structure is too large, especially if it is too dark in color, the window frame may buckle and begin to have problems. Aluminum windows are much stronger and more durable, and if a builder wants them to be very durable, aluminum windows will fit the bill nicely.
What if you want to customize or want a non-standard window color? Glass windows are available in about 30 veneer colors and aluminum windows in more than 200 RAL colors (due to powder coating). However, the price is higher. If you are interested, you can personally inspect and compare the corner samples of PVC and aluminum windows. Aluminum windows are considered to be more unique than PVC windows; they have thinner frames, are more configurable, and allow more light into the room. This is due to its lighter weight and larger size.
If a builder definitely needs very large windows, then aluminum may be the best choice. This does not mean that large sizes cannot be achieved with PVC. It depends on whether the builder needs one large glazed window or if a group of windows is acceptable.
It is worth noting that in plastic windows, the steel is responsible for the statics of the structure, which is located inside the profile, whereas in aluminum, the frame itself provides the statics, so the supplier can create a larger structure out of aluminum profiles. Aluminum is much stiffer and does not deform as much as PVC. In addition, it is lighter and puts less stress on the hinges.
